New York’s dining scene is set to welcome three of the world’s most celebrated restaurants with the launch of the ambitious Priceless by Mastercard project. Set in Spring Studios in Tribeca, the three restaurants will be recreated in minute detail from the menus to the spectacular views.
The three restaurants selected to take up residency in the studios through the beginning of next year are London’s Lyaness, complete with the famous views of the River Thames; Zanzibar’s The Rock, complete with the amazing Indian Ocean views; and Terazushi, one of Japan’s most famous sushi bars.
All three restaurants have been painstakingly replicated from the toothpick holders to the area rugs, but the greatest lengths have gone to set the idyllic scene at The Rock. The restaurant itself is remarkable and only accessible by foot when the tide is out. Guests are treated to 360-degree views of the ocean and can select from a wonderful menu that blends African and Italian traditions.
At Priceless by Mastercard, guests will smell the ocean air mixed with moss and beech wood. They will hear the sound of waves and take in views captured at the restaurant. There will also be the same high level of service that has made The Rock such a popular spot.
Maverick chef Takayoshi Watanabe will be in residence at Teruzushi and will bring his mix of exceptional ingredients, innovation and signature theatrics to New York. The experienced chef prepares his dishes with a long 70cm blade, which both affects the texture of the sushi while also helping to deliver the all-important showmanship.
“Teruzushi was established around the premise that we provide an experience you can only have in our restaurant,” said Chef Watanabe. “In order to bring that here to Priceless, we literally closed our doors in Kitakyushu and headed here to New York with our full staff in tow to ensure we could deliver on that promise and bring the tradition of Kyushu sushi to life for guests through dishes that stimulate the five senses.”
London’s Lyaness will be presented as an exact replica from the green onyx curved bar to the light blue hue that washes the interior. The famous London bar comes from the team behind Dandelyan, which was voted World’s Best Bar in 2018 before it closed to make way for Lyaness. Creator Ryan Chetiyawardana takes a chef’s approach to his cocktails, elevating them to an art form with the use of unexpected ingredients such as koji.
Finally, guests at Priceless by Mastercard will be able to start or finish their evening at Global Market, a rooftop bar offering expertly curated dishes that integrate a bevy of international flavors from James Beard Award-winning Chef JJ Johnson.
