Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Are ‘Closer’ After Africa Tour: It’s a ‘Life-Changing Experience’

Living their best lives! Duchess Meghan (née Markle) and Prince Harry embarked on their first royal tour in Africa with their son, Archie, and ever since then, the couple share a deeper bond.

“It’s brought Harry and Meghan even closer,” a source told Us Weekly about the trip that kicked off on September 23. “They’re calling it a life-changing experience. Meghan and Harry’s trip to Africa was better than they could’ve ever imagined.”

While the parents of one were impacted by this trip, we’re sure the people they encountered were as well, especially with all the charity work that Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, did. The former actress and the duke focused “on community, grassroots leadership, women’s and girls’ rights, mental health, HIV/AIDS and the environment” during their visit, according to a statement made by their joint Instagram account.

Most recently, Meghan met with a group of female activists and praised them for their hard work and dedication toward making a difference in society. “I was recently reminded that the first one up the mountain often gets knocked down the hardest but makes way for everyone behind them. You must keep at it and know that you are working for this generation and the next, and also continuing the legacy of the generations of great women before you,” the duchess told them, according to The Sunday Times.

The Suits alum also made sure the people she met in Africa knew that she stood with them by revealing exactly how she relates to them. “On one personal note, may I just say that while I am here with my husband as a member of the royal family, I want you to know that for me, I am here as a mother, as a wife, as a woman, as a woman of color, and as your sister,” she said during her speech in Cape Town on September 23. “I am here with you, and I am here for you.”

Besides working hard to make changes happen, the best part of the tour for the pair was probably having baby Archie with them. The 4-month-old was all smiles whenever he was seen with his parents. He’s growing up so fast, in fact, that “he’s already sitting up without any support for a few seconds,” according to a source who spoke to Life & Style. We can’t wait to see other important milestones he’ll achieve!
