Coming to America? Duchess Meghan (née Markle) and Prince Harry may reside full-time in mother England, but a source revealed to Life & Style magazine exclusively that the newly minted parents are looking to expand their real estate portfolio.
With Harry, 34, and Meghan, 38, slated to bring their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, to L.A. later this year, the source noted that they’re “talking about buying property nearby, in Malibu,” and plan to “view houses during their trip.”
“[Meghan] knows her home is in the U.K. now, but she does miss California,” explained the insider. “With its year-round, almost perfect climate and beaches, both she and Harry think Malibu is the ideal location for a base in the States.”
Even if Meghan and Harry’s second home pales in comparison to Kensington Palace, it will still be fit for a royal! “There are two properties they’re eyeing,” the source said. “One near the members-only Soho House Malibu and one in a more remote area near Point Dume.”
Of course, the dedicated humanitarians aren’t just contemplating this purchase for personal gain. “Meghan and Harry could visit, do some global outreach work from L.A. and hobnob with politicians and celebrities there. It would be beneficial for royal business,” the insider expressed.
Beyond spending time with politicians and celebrities, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, also lives and California and the insider noted the couple wants her to move into the home.
Last but certainly not least, Meghan and Harry purchasing a vacation home in the U.S. would be a major moment for the British monarchy. “Meghan has changed everything,” the insider said. “A home in Malibu will be a royal first — that’s for sure!”
Here’s hoping Meghan and Harry manage to find their dream property! After all, we’d love to see photos of baby Archie playing in the California sunshine.
