Road trip … but make it royal! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced that they’ll be heading to South Africa later this month and of course, their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, will be tagging along.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an official visit to Southern Africa between Monday 23rd September and Wednesday 2nd October,” a statement from Kensington Palace, released on Friday, September 6, read.
“At the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Their Royal Highnesses will together visit South Africa. The Duke of Sussex will also visit Angola and Malawi … and will undertake a short working visit to Botswana. This will be Their Royal Highness’ first official tour as a family.”
Naturally, Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, couldn’t be more thrilled to embark on this journey together. “In just a few weeks, our family will be taking its first official tour to Africa, a region of the world that over the past two decades has been a second home to me,” the proud monarch wrote on Instagram.
“Our team has helped create a meaningful [program] that we’re so excited to share with you. On a personal note, I can’t wait to introduce my wife and son to South Africa! We’ll see all of you very soon.”
With Archie still being a newborn, Meghan and Harry are taking his travels “very seriously,” a source expressed to Us Weekly in June, adding that the first-time parents will “make sure that Archie remains safe and happy throughout.”
Considering how incredible Meghan and Harry have been with their son since his birth in May, we have no doubt that this trip will be an amazing family memory.
We look forward to seeing the photos!
