Surely, any visit to Kensington Place is bound to be memorable, especially for Camila Cabello, who stole a pencil from Prince William and Duchess Kate‘s home and later ‘fessed up to it. Naturally, it got back to the royals, and lucky for the singer, they seemed totally cool about it.
It all started when the “Havana” crooner made an appearance on BBC 1 Radio’s Breakfast with Greg James, and the radio DJ recalled the last time they had seen each other, which was when they visited the palace together. “Don’t tell anybody what my mother and I did,” the 22-year-old pop star said before Greg disregarded her. “We were at Kensington Palace … we were about to meet William and Kate and I said, ‘[You] gotta steal something. Steal something … steal that pencil,” Greg explained.
“You, to one of the palace people … called me out on it and you were like, ‘She stole a pencil!'” Camila told Greg. “And I was like, ‘Oh, my God,’ and I put it in my mom’s purse and my mom was like, ‘No. We have to give it back. We have to give back the pencil.’ And I was like, ‘No. He triple doggy dared me. I have to take the pencil.’ So I still have it.”
Nonetheless, Camila couldn’t help but feel apologetic about what she did. “I’m sorry William and I’m sorry Kate,” she said. “… I honestly couldn’t sleep last night. I had to get it off my chest.”
Well, William and Kate got the message. BBC Radio 1 tweeted about the encounter and tagged Kensington Palace, which is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Twitter account. The couple simply replied with the eyes emoji. We’re glad Camila didn’t get in any major trouble for her harmless act!

Thankfully, the royals have a great sense of humor. That can most recently be seen when Kacey Musgraves recalled the time she gave Prince Harry a high-five, not knowing there are very specific ways on how to properly greet a royal.
“Apparently afterwards, the guy that works at the label was like, ‘No, no, no,'” the country singer told to Access Hollywood on November 19 about the encounter with the Duke of Sussex. “He was like, ‘I can’t believe you gave him a high-five. That’s just unbelievable.’ He’s like, ‘No, there’s a way to address the royal family, and a high-five, going up top is not the way.’” How did Harry react? “He went in for it,” Kacey revealed. ~ He’s not a regular prince. He’s a cool prince.~
