As a parent, there is no scenario worse than finding yourself unable to help your child in their time of need. This was exactly the case for local Chef Christian Quiñones, whose four-year-old daughter, a resident of Puerto Rico, endured the brutalities of Hurricane Maria. Despite his inability to make contact with his daughter for days following the storm, eventually he was able to bring her to Florida from Puerto Rico.
In an effort to help the islands heal from the devastating effects of Maria, Quiñones has partnered with a team of local chefs – both from Puerto Rico and from the local community – to host “Puerto Rico in My Heart”, a fundraising event.
The event will include food from participating chefs, drinks, a silent auction, dancing and live music from Ivan Melendez. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce’s Fiesta de Pueblo Disaster Relief Fund.
“Puerto Rico in Heart” will take place at the West Palm Beach Marriott on Thursday, October 26th from 7-10pm. For more information please contact Kay Lynch at katy@savortonight.com or (561) 313-2210.
