Bringing together more than 550 restaurants and boutique hotels around the world, Relais & Châteaux strives to highlight each place that stands out for its atmosphere and setting, as well as its food and wine. Now the association is expanding its collection with the addition of 24 new properties. As each one takes pride in its local heritage through its unique culture and cuisine, each of these new additions to the Relais & Châteaux portfolio is extraordinary in its own right.
Within the Americas new members include Alo Restaurant in Toronto, the restaurant and inn of SingleThread Farm in Hearldsburg, the luxury ranch Magee Homestead in Saratoga and Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel & Spa in Grenada. Delfin Amazon Cruises in Iquitos, Peru, also made the selection, along with chef Andres Porcel’s Chila Restaurant in Buenos Aires.
The latest European additions are Lympstone Manor Hotel in the UK, the Michelin starred restaurant and hotel Bij Jef, which sits on the small island of Texel off the coast of the Netherlands, Poland’s Quadrille Hotel, the hotel and restaurant Auberge des Glazicks in France and the Hotel Restaurant Krone Regensberg in Switzerland.
Romania appears on the list with the addition of Le Bistrot Francais in Bucharest, and Italy proves its culinary prowess with three new members: Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais in Cavaion Veronese, Locanada Don Serafino in Ragusa Ibla, and Capofaro Malasia and Resort in Malfa. Add to this the two Michelin starred dining spots, Restaurant Coque in Madrid and Belcanto in Lisbon, while Restaurant Akelarre in San Sebastian, which has been a member since 1999, has been recognized for its new boutique hotel.
In Africa it’s then the Seychelles’ exclusive resort North Island, Duba Plains Camp in Botswana’s Okavango Delta and Esiweni Luxury Safari Lodge in Nambiti Game Reserve, South Africa, that have been given this new status. Asia’s newest members are the Uza Terrace Beach Club Villas in Okinawa, Japan, and the Svatma Hotel in Thanjavur, India. The final addition is Helena Bay Lodge in Whangarei, New Zealand.
Highlighting restaurants and hotels from the rainforest of the Peruvian Amazon to the vineyards of Italy, unique wilderness of Botswana and remote coast of northern New Zealand, the inclusion of these new members introduces guests to a selection of exceptional locations around the world where the cuisine and experience each restaurant and hotel provides makes the setting seem even more remarkable.
