Review of the $5,500 Grand Suite at The St. Regis New York

$5,500 grand suite at The st. regis new york

December 2019

We sure hit the jackpot this time guys! If you like luxury, you’ve come to the right place. The St. Regis is the epitome of luxury, and we got to stay in one of their high-end suites.

Read on to get a glimpse into an, for most people, unknown world of high society lifestyle.

Grand Suite at The St Regis New York

Before we get started, I think it’s important to understand why some people happily pay $5-10.000
(or even a lot more) for one night in a suite. It is NOT just a bed and a place to sleep! Though some stay for only a few days, many guests stay weeks or even months, and see it as a “home away from home”. And when money is not an issue, why would you downgrade your lifestyle, when you’re travelling? However, people with an average income are of course (sadly) deprived of this privilege – unless you have rather unique priorities.

Located on 5th Avenue very close to Central Park, you’re in the heart of Manhattan. Obviously The St. Regis scores extremely high on location. When arriving outside you are greeted by the always smiling and polite staff, and of course the “house Bentley” waiting to transport the guests free of charge. The building is a legendary landmark in New York, and it was built in 1904 by John Jacob Astor, who had the goal of creating the most luxurious hotel in the world.

We were fortunate to be given an upgrade to one of the Grand Suites, a 126 sqm / 1400 sqft luxury suite. We believe the photos speak for themselves. The picture of the lobby below is taken from the official website.

The good

Pretty much everything – just see the video, and you’ll understand.

However, if we have to emphasize something, it would be the overall luxury feeling. It really is a royal experience to stay in the Grand Suite. All the details, the furniture, fabrics, colours – it’s just 100% on point – and it’s simply impossible not to be impressed.

The less good

The fact that we can’t financially justify to spend a couple of weeks every year in this suite. Still – compared to other suites in this price range in New York, the Grand Suite scores very high regarding value for money. If you want to live the Suite Life in NYC, you won’t get it cheap – that’s just the way it is.

Conclusion

If you’ve read / seen some of the other suite reviews, you probably know how we rate the suites / hotels we stay in. Some of the scores refer only to the suite, some only to the hotel, and some scores refer to both. When we add them all together, we get the combined Suite Life score of the stay.

The Grand Suite at The St. Regis New York takes the top spot of all the suites we have reviewed so far, and it is well deserved. We have a hard time seeing how this score will be beat, without moving into the extreme level of presidential / royal suites in other high end luxury hotels, but you never know – the future adventures of Suite Life will tell!

We used the opportunity to do a photoshoot in the suite, and had the pleasure of showcasing some of the most exclusive loungewear / underwear in the world – from the luxury swiss brand Zimmerli.

Thanks for taking the time to read this article and watch the video. Not much left to say, than a huge thank you to the kind staff at The St. Regis New  York, for taking so good care of us during our stay.

Take care everyone – and see you soon again. Next time we’re continuing in New York City – at The Park Hyatt!
