REVIEW: SOUTH CITY KITCHEN – ATLANTA

Brunch

Zagat rated South City Kitchen as one of the top dozen places to have brunch in Midtown Atlanta. So, I decided to have brunch there on June 25 at 11 a.m. to see if Zagat and I share the same opinion. We don’t. The food? Excellent. The service? Poor. As a party of one, the only available seating was at the bar, so I moseyed on over to it. I was asked if I were going to eat at the bar and then given a menu. I chose water, buttermilk malted waffle and applewood smoked bacon. The wait was not long and the food was excellent — very fresh and warm. Unfortunately, at no point did any service staff member tell me their name, ask me if I needed anything after taking my order or refill my water, even though is was down to a quarter full and 90 degrees outside. Solution? As a former NYC trainer for a Fortune 40 company, it’s obvious that its employees need customer service training. Chain of events: Self-seated at bar, given menu, served food and given $15 bill. (Rating: 2 forks)
