Billed as the heir of the Carlo Riva-designed Caravelle and Atlantic steel series, the 50m superyacht with a 9m beam will make its official debut at the Venice Boat Show in June before also attending the Monaco Yacht Show in late September.

Race is a product of the partnership between the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee and Officina Italiana Design, the firm headed by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta that designs the entire Riva range.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, said: “Riva 50 mt is a huge leap forward for Riva and for the world of yachting, in addition to being an amazing sight on the water. This yacht and her unique magnificence, amplified by her impressive size, also represents a remarkable achievement for the Riva Superyachts Division, which has built the biggest Riva ever made while meeting and enhancing the brand’s signature stylistic excellence.”

Earlier in March, Riva premiered its 90’ Argo with spectacular fireworks in Miami, in a private viewing for over 200 guests. The model was named after Argo, vessel of the Argonauts in Greek mythology and the Italian name for the Greek city of Argos.

The 28.5m (93ft 6in) yacht features long, full-height glazed deck windows, aft lateral structures with glass surfaces, and large hull windows.

Designed for American owners, the version presented in Miami featured an alternative cockpit layout with a bar unit, two seats, two sofas and a coffee table by Paola Lenti.

“The Riva 90’ Argo is an exceptional flybridge. The sight of it alone is a spellbinding experience,” Galassi said. “Once you are on board, you realise why the new Riva flybridge generation is currently unrivalled.”

Ferretti Group’s upcoming launches include the Filippo Salvetti-designed Ferretti Yachts 720, which will sit in the range between the new 670 and the 780.

Custom Line, which traditionally builds from 100ft upwards, is developing the semi-displacement Navetta 30 for release in 2020, when it will become the brand’s new entry-level model. With input from Salvetti and architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, the yacht appears particularly voluminous yet will satisfy sub-24m criteria.

Megayacht builder CRN is developing a 70m megayacht with designers Andrea Vallicelli and Alessandro Nazareth, responsible for the concept, external lines and interior partitioning.

At the other end of the size scale is the 48 Wallytender, which
will premiere at Cannes in September. It will be the first new model since Ferretti Group added Wally to its portfolio through an exclusive license agreement that was announced earlier this year in the presence of Luca Bassani, who founded Wally in 1994 and will continue to work exclusively for the brand.

The yacht’s key features include drop-down aft bulwarks, a full cabin with shower cubicle, galley unit with fridge, and more dayboat amenities than previous models. And it appears to stay true to the original Wallytender concept, which was as a standalone runabout for day or overnight cruising, not only as a support vessel or taxi.

“Ever since we entered the power market in 2001, the Wallytender has been a pure expression of the joy of open-air living on the sea and the sheer pleasure of day boating,” Bassani said. “This concept is further enhanced by this restyled version of the original Wallytender.”

Ferretti Group announced it will invest over €84 million over the four-year period from 2019-22 – including €70 million in the first two years – in the development of the brand, and design and construction of new product ranges. New Wally models will be built at Ferretti Group shipyards, including the Super Yacht Yard for the largest yachts.

“Ferretti Group has great industrial, organisational and commercial capabilities and will be able to boost Wally,” Bassani said. “All the years and the effort to build the brand will have a continuation. I could not wish anything better for Wally’s life.”
