Buckle in, fam, season 4 of Riverdale premieres on October 9 and it looks like we’re in for a wild ride. Last season left us with a lot of questions — Is Jughead dead? How did the real Charles survive? Where is Alice Cooper? While that’s just the tip of the iceberg, the new season is sure to unravel a lot of these tightly wound mysteries. Diehard fans of the CW show already have some interesting predictions about what’s to come, and in the town of Riverdale anything can happen.
The first official trailer for the season was released during New York Comic Con on October 6 and immediately answered the looming question of how the show was going to handle the future of Luke Perry‘s character, Fred Andrews. The actor tragically died on March 4 after suffering a stroke. His sudden passing was a huge loss to the cast, who will be using the first episode of the season to honor his character.
“You’re right back in the incident when you’re back on set,” Marisol Nichols — the actress who plays Hermoine Lodge — explained about returning to film the new season without their friend during Comic Con. “You feel him around, his spirit is still there, still with us.”
The latest trailer shows Archie (KJ Apa) turning a gym into a community center for his father after he passes away. Hopefully, Luke and his character will have the send-off he deserves during the premiere episode.
As for the rest of the cast, there is a lot to unpack. Hiram Lodge is currently in jail — a facility which he owns — and his wife was also sent to the slammer. Although it shows Hermoine possibly spilling many family secrets to her daughter, Veronica (Camila Mendes), the promo video teases that viewers will start to see a more passionate side of Hermoine and Hiram’s marriage.
One big mystery is Alice’s disappearance. When the core four went to The Farm, a creepy cult that harvests organs, they find Kevin surrounded by white clothes and he tells them that everyone has “ascended.” The trailer shows Charles, the supposed real son of Alice, stating that she has been missing for five days. This leads to Betty developing suspicions about him and digging deeper into his past.
Time will tell what season 4 has in store. Keep reading to see fan theories!
Wild #Riverdale theory, but what if they actually did kill Jughead. That’s what we spend all season thinking and then they bring in Sabrina for a crossover and she resurrects him? Like I said, wild, but possible I guess.

Im pretty sure that betty’s knocking out moment and all that jughead being lost has to do something with jughead’s mom. They wouldn’t have got rid of her character or jughead’s character that easily, especially when show’s going to have at least 6 or 7 seasons.

when we last left off riverdale, it heavily implied they killed jughead in the coming months. my theory is that he’s going to be slightly off screen in the scene we were shown

My theory is Gladys abducts Jughead and buries him alive in a box somewhere in Pickens Park
