Robert Parker Wine Advocate will kick off the inaugural edition of GastroMonth in Singapore on October 30. The comprehensive month-long gourmet event comprises exclusive dining experiences at more than 40 acclaimed restaurants, wine masterclasses, awards for culinary luminaries, and a grand gala dinner (on November 4) to honour the best in local talent.
Not just for culinary professionals to call the shots, the Circle of Excellence Awards (Singapore) will allow local foodies to select their best-loved restaurant team, restaurant manager, bartender, sommelier and street food vendor through online voting, which ends October 15.
Contenders include The St Regis Singapore sommelier Vikneswaran Koonnusagaran, Tippling Club bartender Joe Schofield and restaurant manager Fabian Schenk, Cut by Wolfgang Puck restaurant manager Paul Joseph, Odette sommelier Vincent Tan, Antidote Bar‘s Bannie Kang, Highball‘s Kino Soh, OLA Cucina Del Mar, and Shinji at Carlton Hotel.
A judging panel, which includes Bocuse d’Or Asia Honorary President Otto Weibel and Asian Culinary Institute Chairman Christophe Megel, will decide on the winners of the categories Innovative and Bold Chef (nominees are Stellar at 1-Altitude‘s Chris Millar, Adrift‘s David Myers, Hashida Sushi‘s Kenjiro Hashida, VLV‘s Martin Foo, and BAM‘s Pepe Moncayo) and Innovative and Bold Restaurateur (nominees are Beppe De Vito of ilLido Group, Cynthia Chua of Spa Esprit Group, Wee Teng Wen of Lo & Behold, Willin Low of Wild Rocket, and Alexandre Lozachmeur of Fleur de Sel Le Restaurant).
