Since A$AP Rocky called Rihanna the “love of his life” earlier this year, the couple has gone pretty under-the-radar in terms of public displays of actually being together. This week, though, they stepped out in New York for date night at Barcade in Chelsea.
As we know, both Rocky and Rihanna are equally as powerful when it comes to individual style, so the combination of the two was always going to bring it up a level.
It’s an onerous thing to get right — trust me, ask Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly. But the duo completely bodied the couple’s fit on one of their first public display of official couple-ness. The artists both opted for pieces that bounce off the palettes and material of one another’s looks without going too far down the match and make-people-want-vomit path.
Rihanna made use of her grail-filled wardrobe, wearing a pink slip dress from John Galliano’s SS02 collection for Dior, a hat by UK-based faux fur headwear designer Emma Brewin, and an archive Fendi bag, as well as Rocky, on her arm.
A$AP took cues from Rihanna’s palette and sported a (fire) purple sweater vest from Raf Simons’ FW20 Futurism collection. He styled it with a pair of leather Rick Owens pants and boots, and a heavy leather bomber jacket — also by Alyx and borrowed by Rihanna later in the evening to put the seal on this being the best couple’s fit we’ve seen this year.
