Last year had Roger Dubuis establishing itself in the automotive world, teaming up with Lamborghini Squadra Corsa and tyre manufacturer Pirelli. In tribute to the high-octane arena of fast cars, the collaborations debuted the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Selection and the Pirelli Selection, each featuring race-car inspired movements and straps inlaid with the same rubber used in Pirelli racing tyres.
The Swiss watchmaker is not slowing down any soon, launching this year’s brand new Excalibur Spider Pirelli Sottozero, limited to only 8 pieces. The special edition re-interprets its 2017 predecessor, the Excalibur Spider Pirelli with Double Flying Tourbillon, with a cool, arctic finish, marking its snow white ceramic bezel with icy blue accents.

The also watch sports a bi-material strap with Pirelli snow nails tyre inlay and a blue stitching, with interesting tread motifs modelled after actual Pirelli Sottozero tyres. Studded with titanium, the curious strap recalls the studded Sottozero tyres, designed to bite into ice for extra grip.
Within its sapphire crystal case beats the skeletonised, manual RD105SQ calibre, featuring the signature Astral Skeleton and a multi-coloured power reserve indicator in reference to the race car cockpit fuel gauges. Like its precursor, the new Excalibur Spider Pirelli Sottozero flaunts the emblematic double flying tourbillon at 5 and 7 o’clock, further lavished with speedometer-like rims.
