Russian officials approved plans this month for a DreamWorks theme park in Moscow, featuring attractions based on the Hollywood studio’s films.
The “Disneyland-style” park, as Moscow city hall calls it, will be Europe’s largest indoor theme park.
When complete, visitors will have the run of more than 293,900 square meters of entertainment zones that will include a multiplex cinema, children’s cafés, retail and dining spaces and promenades.
To be built in Nagatinskaya Poima, the area will feature a concert hall, hotel complex and children’s yachting school.
Designed specifically to operate year round in frigid Russian winter temperatures, the indoor theme park will share the space with Russian animator Soyuzmultfilm which will operate another park in an adjacent area.
The DreamWorks park is scheduled to open in 2018. DreamWorks is also planning to open parks in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.
