While Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds like to keep their personal lives private for the most part, they have dished a few things here and there about their three children. We’ve got you covered on everything you need to know about the gorgeous couple and their tight-knit family.
It all started when Blake and Ryan began dating in late 2011. By the following year, they tied the knot. Then, two years later, they welcomed their first child in December 2014 — James Reynolds. The couple chose the name James as a way to honor of Ryan’s dad who passed away in 2015. “It felt right,” the Deadpool actor told Mr. Porter in 2018.
Ryan didn’t always have the best relationship with his father. However, thanks to his wife’s help, he was able to patch things up before his passing after his battle with Parkinson’s disease. “All family relationships come with some complications,” he told the outlet. “For better or worse, all roads lead to here. At the end of the day, it’s easier to focus on the good stuff than the bad. My father died soon after my daughter was born, but he got to see her, which makes me happy.”
In September 2016, the duo welcomed their second daughter, Inez Reynolds. Neither Blake nor Ryan have revealed the inspiration behind her name, but they did give it a unique spelling. “I had a new baby, Inez, with a ‘z’ even though everyone says it’s with an ‘s,’ the Gossip Girl alum told People in 2018. “I don’t know why, please tell Wikipedia.”
Most recently, Blake and Ryan welcomed their third daughter over the summer, according to Us Weekly. However, they kept the exciting news to themselves. On Wednesday, October 16, Ryan finally took to social media to confirm their newest bundle of joy was in fact here, revealing they had another girl. “I love B.C. I want my daughters to experience the same natural playground I grew up in,” he tweeted a photo with Blake carrying their newborn, who’s face was blurred out. The parents of three have yet to reveal her name, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s equally unique as James and Inez.
In May, a source exclusively told Life & Style that Ryan was hoping to have a boy. “Ryan says he’s outnumbered at home, he’s trying to even the playing field, so a son would be great,” the insider said. Regardless, we’re sure he’s happy now that his little girl is here!
