I've been meaning to post about this place for months, after first visiting when it opened in London back in the summer. So last night before going to see Les Miserables at Leicester Square (amazing btw, you have to see it!), the girls and I headed there for dinner. San Carlo Cicchetti is a small chain of Italian restaurants, with a large menu of small freshly prepared meals, with the point of having two or three of the dishes (which is what Cicchetti means/is). It's a bit like Tapas, but Italian style. From the outside Cicchetti looks like a Mediterranean deli, with food displays to rival the likes of Fortnum and Mason and Harrods' deli displays.
Every time I come here the service is amazing, the waiters are helpful and friendly and can't do enough for you. The menu changes with the seasons and is quite long (over 80 dishes), but every meal is freshly prepared and cooked, and the meals are reasonable prices at between £3-£12 each. I personally love their calamari, and the ham and mushroom pizza is also excellent, with the dough just right. Two dishes is fine for me, and fills me to bursting, but those with a bigger appetite may want to go for three dishes.
The others had various other meals, but the ones I think looked amazingly delicious were these two;
I have no idea what these dishes were - sorry! The top one is come sort of avocado salad, and the bottom is a pasta dish.
I will happily recommend San Carlo Cicchetti to anyone, it's the perfect place to relax with friends within a bustling restaurant that provides good quality food at affordable prices. My meals here have ranged between £10-£25 per person depending on what we have had. That's the good thing about this place, it's great for a light and cheap meal or dinner with friends, and also good for an indulgent date with a bottle of good bottle of wine and courses coming out of your ears! And with chef Aldo Zilli on the San Carlo Cicchetti team now, this place is bound to only get better!
