After releasing her second new song — “Look at Her Now” — within 24 hours, Selena Gomez begged her fans to “be kind.” It appeared that she was referring to her ex Justin Bieber‘s wife, Hailey Baldwin. The Wizards of Waverly Place star’s latest tracks seem to point (again) at her longtime on-again, off-again relationship with the Biebs, and people have been coming for the blonde model because of it.
“I am grateful for the response the song is getting. I’m so grateful. However, I do not stand for women tearing women down and I will never, ever be by that. So, please be kind to everyone,” the 27-year-old began in an Instagram Live on October 23. “It doesn’t matter what the situation is, if you’re my fans, don’t be rude to anybody, please.” She didn’t mention the A-list couple by name, but it’s safe to say she’s referring to all the negative attention they’ve been receiving by Selenators.

Selena dropped “Lose You to Love Me” on October 23 after a long hiatus from the music industry. The lyrics seemingly shaded Justin, 25, and the short amount of time from when things ended for good with the brunette beauty and when he got engaged to the model, 22. “I gave my all and they all know it/You turned me down and now it’s showing/In two months, you replaced us/Like it was easy/Made me think I deserved it/In the thick of healing, yeah,” the second verse of the song reads.
However, Selena pleaded with fans to leave the newlyweds alone. “Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment and just please, for me, know that that’s not my heart. My heart is only to release things that I feel that are me and that I’m proud of. And, that’s all that I’ll say,” she added.
A source confirmed to In Touch that Sel wasn’t purposely trying to be salty toward her ex with her new music but was simply expressing herself. “Selena didn’t mean for the song to be shady, but songwriting to her is part of her therapy. So, she had to put it down on paper and release it,” the insider explained about the “Wolves” artist. “That’s part of her process, and it works for her.”
The source noted, “Meanwhile, Justin and Hailey hope this is the last song she has about her ex. They just want Selena to leave them alone.” The blonde bombshell already shut down “nonsense” rumblings that she responded to the former Disney kid’s new music by listening to “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker — so it seems like she’s ready to move on as well.
Hopefully, fans can get past Jelena because it seems like the pop star has!
