Fatima Sana Shaikh | Words: Deepali Singh
Fatima Sana Shaikh, It’s the wedding season and nothing makes a woman stand out in the crowd than a lovely, festive lip colour! Inspired by the multiple facets of every Indian woman, 25o2, the cosmetic brand has recently introduced seven new shades of lipwear for the bridal season. The brainchild of Hina Antule, a professional make-up artist, the lip colours come in beautiful shades of pinks, reds and nudes with quirky names such as Ishaqbaaz, Masakali and Badtameezi to name a few! “Each of these names have a certain emotion attached to it and I wanted every woman to feel a certain mood when she puts it on. So if she’s feeling fearless, she can pick up Sherni!” she says with a smile. Brand ambassador Fatima Sana Shaikh, who counts Sherni and Junoon as two of her favourite shades from the collection, is excited to be associated with the brand. We chatted with the Dangal actress to know more…
How did the association with 25o2 happen?
When Hina Antule came to me with a 25o2 prototype and said she was about to launch this homegrown brand in India, I instantly fell in love with it and chose to associate without a second thought. 25o2 just grabbed my attention instantaneously with its quirky and evocative names like Masakali, Nazakat, Sherni, Patakha, Badtameezi, Ishaqbaaz, and Junoon. You have mentioned that you were not a makeup person earlier. Are you enjoying it now? Also, what do you think make up does for a girl, specially lipwear?
Fatima Sana Shaikh, I believe in subtle makeup that can accentuate your natural glow. Makeup should not be overdone or be heavy-handed. It should help to complete or create a look in a way that can make a girl feel confident. Also, my quick lipstick fix is to exfoliate my lips before application to avoid dry and pesky patches.
Lipwear for me is the go-to cosmetic tool that has the power to glam you up instantly. From making you look pretty in pinks to a dazzling damsel in bright red or orange, lipsticks can work wonders for you!
What did you like most about the 25o2 range of lip wear? Which are your favourite shades from their range?
The shades are fun and quirky and appeal to all generations and skin types. It is so easy to apply, it’s long-lasting. It also has an attached keychain which makes it so convenient to carry. The brand is cruelty-free. This is something that really matters especially when it comes to the beauty world.
All the 25o2 shades are so amazing. It is difficult to select one but, Sherni is my favourite shade because it has just the right blend of masti and glamour that I like to bring to any occasion! I also like Junoon, it’s pure red and I like that because it’s comfortable on the lips. I can use just a little bit on my cheek and I’ve got my blush, I can put more of it on my lip to give a bold lip look and a bit on my eyes to add a flush of colour there too.
Does your lip shade depend on the mood or the occasion? Or do you pick them up according to what’s in front of you at the moment?
I choose my shade of lipstick according to my mood and with the amazing range from 25o2, there is a different shade for whatever mood I am in! They are so easy to apply, that I can go from mellow to bold in just a few minutes.
Makeup is one thing but what else do you think adds to the grace and beauty of a person?
Makeup is an integral part to hold a look together. However, I believe, comfort and confidence is the key. If you are comfortable, it will naturally exude grace and beauty no matter if you are in plain-Jane mode with sneakers or a quirky hot pink dress with a hot pink lipstick on.
Three things you do for that glowing skin and face?
Regular cleansing after heavy-duty and long-wearing makeup from all-day-long shoot. Also, I believe in natural home remedies or as we call it ‘Nani ke nuskhe’. I use ghee, it is great for your skin and lips. Malai is my other all-time favourite, go-to beauty hack. I use egg for my hair. I feel it’s the best natural protein treatment.
