With Super Bowl LIV quickly approaching, halftime performer and all around powerhouse Shakira is kicking her fitness routine into high gear! The longtime entertainer’s personal trainer, Anna Kaiser, exclusively reveals to Life & Style the various exercises Shakira is doing to make sure her hips don’t lie come Sunday, February 2.
“You know, every day is different. For instance, today she has a really long day of dance rehearsals. She started the day with a short strength workout because that’s all she could fit in, and she’s going to be really active all throughout the day so we don’t want her to be too tired,” says Anna, founder of The AKT.
“Yesterday, we did a longer strength workout — pure strength — because she also had dance rehearsals, but it was later in the day, so we had more time,” Anna adds. “The day before, we did a dance interval workout that we really got the full hour and a half craziness in and she got the extra cardio that she needed to focus on the music production.”
Rather than following a strict “routine,” their regimen focuses on optimizing the time and space they have available. “I’m really creating a workout program that helps her succeed in whatever activity she has that day. This is a long-term plan. We’ve been working together for over nine years, and she really is committed to her fitness and wellness,” explains Anna.
“It’s not really just a short-term, like, let’s buckle down and get you ready for this event, it’s an everyday commitment. It’s important that whether you have 15 minutes to just run into your gym downstairs, or she can run and do a quick 15 minutes on the stair climber before she has to run out, you do something. You do something physical on all of the days that you’ve committed to. So, we’ve committed to six days a week,” the fitness guru notes. “She gets Sundays off, and it doesn’t matter if it’s 15 minutes or an hour and a half, we make it happen.”
As for focusing on a specific part of the body? Shakira and Anna are working on it all. “We want her to feel her strongest self,” she assures.
Needless to say, we can’t wait to watch Shakira do her thing this year! Keep up the hard work.
