Working mom! Shay Mitchell gave a small glimpse of her newborn daughter, whom she shares with boyfriend Matte Babel. They announced their baby’s arrival on October 20, and the tiny girl seems to fit right in.
“Welcome to my office — Yep, slash my bed,” the 32-year-old joked while filming her makeshift workspace, which featured her fluffy white comforter as her desk. Their daughter — whom they still haven’t announced the name of — could be seen snoozing peacefully in her crib. While it’s hard to make out any details of what she looks like, it does appear she was born with a full head of hair.
While the Pretty Little Liars alum seems to be taking to motherhood pretty seamlessly, there will always be haters on social media. The first photo Shay posted of her daughter showed the babe’s tiny hand. “Never letting go,” the actress simply captioned the powerful shot on Instagram and got a lot of backlash from mom-shamers.
“Except when there’s a party to go to, right?! Disgusting … leaving your newborn only days after her birth,” a troll commented, referring to previous footage she posted to her Instagram Story. Luckily, the new mom has a thick skin and a knack for clap backs. “Days? LOL honey, just because I posted on that day doesn’t mean she was born on that day,” Shay snapped.
Fans rallied to defend the You actress. “Imagine being that sad you have to terrorise [sic] a new mum on the Internet. All mums need time to themselves,” one person wrote. Someone else echoed, “What’s disgusting is your comment. How about you get yourself a life and stop passing judgement [sic] on everyone else’s?”
Shay’s response implies that she didn’t go out a few days after her baby’s birth, but other commenters added that she is allowed to have a life. “Let the woman live LOL. Who cares if she wanted to step out, her child is taken care of. Y’all are so judgemental,” another user wrote.
The brunette beauty has been very open about how much the encouragement from her fans means to her. Before getting pregnant with her daughter, Shay suffered a miscarriage in 2018. “The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams,” the actress admitted in a written message on her Instagram Story in January.
Keep slaying, mama!
