Just two years after its May 2019 opening, the luxury Hamptons wellness destination of Shou Sugi Ban House, has unveiled a second destination to experience its coveted brand of Japanese-inspired zentopia: The Shou Sugi Ban Inn.
Consisting of an intimate bed and breakfast for overnight stays; and two standalone luxury residences for short-term rentals, The Shou Sugi Ban Inn is positioned beside the serene sanctuary of Shou Sugi Ban House in the beautiful pocket of Water Mill in Southampton.
Previously the White Fences Inn, its new incarnation features five rooms (including three suites) and includes all the benefits of a stay at the main house. This includes the daily signature breakfast from the plant-rich culinary program designed by Michelin-starred chef Mads Refslund and priority access to the House’s renowned spa and wellness offerings.
The tranquil rooms and suites within the Inn feature fireplaces, sumptuous Frette linens, a soaking tub or shower, organic Japanese amenities, and access to the Inn’s private swimming pool and patio. There are also further plans to incorporate the minimalist design of the Japanese-inspired Shou Sugi Ban House into the existing interior design and landscape of the Inn.

The larger of the two, 329 Montauk Highway features seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. Both properties offer ample entertaining space for special events and come with the option of a private chef.
“We are thrilled to be adding this beautiful inn and residences to the portfolio,” said Cherry-Abitbol, founder of the Hampton’s destination “With these new locations, we are extending the brand our team has worked hard to build and introducing a new type of stay in the Hamptons.”
