This week’s spa is the latest in luxury for Beijing, but inside, its design is all Italian. Created by Milanese team Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, the new Bulgari Spa is the most recent addition to the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts hospitality collection and combines urban retreat with the iconic brand’s Italian influence in its 16,000 sq ft of wellness space.
Set in the heart of the Embassy District, Bulgari Spa at Bulgari Hotel Beijing takes an east-meets-west approach to relaxation, fusing traditional Chinese techniques with cutting-edge spa services and products from La Mer. The spa comprises a vitality pool, beauty salon, relaxation room and separate men’s and women’s changing areas with steam room, sauna, ice fountains and cooling showers. An 82ft indoor swimming pool serves as the spa’s focal point, surrounded by Vicenza stone walls and columns evocative of an ancient Roman bath. Hand-laid golden mosaic tiles and airy cabanas draped in sheer fabric create an atmosphere of opulence for guests in the pool area.
On trend for 2017, the signature Himalayan Crystal Healing Journey utilizes Himalayan salt crystals in an array of treatments designed to cleanse and purify the body. Combat the damaging effects of atmospheric pollution after a day spent in the capital with a nourishing treatment using organic plants and fruit such as avocado, pomegranate seed oil and jasmine. Or, get inspired by the Beijing location as ancient Chinese health and wellness philosophies are incorporated into a Qi Rebalancing holistic experience for a revitalizing journey that melds tai chi, acupressure and foot reflexology.
To stay in shape during your visit, the Workshop Gymnasium assesses each guest to create a bespoke fitness and nutrition plan. The ‘Framework’ assessment determines the best type of exercise for an individual, tests for food intolerances and metabolism, screens body movements and analyzes body composition to address health concerns and establish a custom wellness regimen.
For a more exclusive experience, the Bulgari Suite comes complete with its own spa treatment room and private sauna. At 4,300 sq ft, the suite provides ample space that is hard to come by elsewhere in Beijing. Looking out over the Liangma River and city skyline from floor-to-ceiling windows, the suite features a bedroom with bamboo super-king-size bed and walk-in closet, master bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, and dining area adorned with curated art and photography.
Bulgari Hotel Beijing is located at Building 2, Courtyard No. 8, Xinyuan South Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing 100027. For more information, please visit bulgarihotels.com.
