Style/Ambiance: The sleek foyer of W London Hotel lures you from the hurly-burly of Leicester Square to Spice Market, a dark, seductive place of superb Southeast Asian fare.
An entire wall flaunts the kaleidoscope of spices used in the open kitchen, while 600 upturned woks—reconceived as lights—emit a warm glow from above. Created by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, this sister restaurant of the iconic Spice Market in New York borrows the best street food from Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, and reinvents it for the jet set. Expect bold flavors like char grilled chicken with kumquat and lemongrass dressing, and black pepper shrimp with sun-dried pineapple, as well as heavenly textures like salmon sashimi with warm crunchy rice, chipotle emulsion and spring onion. Each dish is brought to the table as soon as it’s ready—a great excuse to share. Make sure you leave room for dessert.
