The Loewe spring/summer 2018 women’s show impressed the fashion set with a backdrop of large-scale tapestries studded with miniature ceramic sculptures by artist Mo Jupp. A seamless union of art, craft and technology, the tapestries feature images from Loewe’s campaign shot by Steven Meisel, as well as black-and-white 19th- and 20th-century photographs.
In this highly textured collection of classic garments, recurring asymmetry, cutouts and form-accentuating elements sharpen fluid silhouettes, while hand embellishments add dimension and showcase special artisanal techniques.
The spring/summer 2018 collection also introduced two new shapes to Loewe’s distinctive range of bags. The Gate, a modern take on a classic saddle carrier, features a knot belt and brass hinge, and is available in two sizes, while the unlined, reversible Tent bag is presented in two signature house colours: oro and caramel.
Other new, must-have accessories from the masters of leather take inspiration from spring, including a pastel version of Jonathan Anderson’s coveted puzzle wrap-handle leather bag. Fans of animal bags, meanwhile, will adore the bunny, a mini bag rendered in shearling featuring a cute cotton tail that’s in perfect step with the season of new beginnings.
