Yet another destination I wanted to highlight is the magical St Regis Bahia Beach Resort. We arrived to Puerto Rico after a particularly grueling work week, which culminated in a 3-day stay in freezing New York, but the moment we stepped off the plane, our troubles and worries seemed to have magically disappeared. Bahia Beach welcomed us with gorgeous blue skies, lush greenery as far as the eye could see, and gentle ocean breeze… it looked and felt like paradise, and we never wanted to leave.
As always, I wanted to start by talking a bit about our room, although apartment, would be a better way to describe it. It is not an easy task to pinpoint what it is we loved about it the most: we were in complete awe of the incredible ocean view from our living room and bedroom, we gushed over the luxurious, calming decor (in my favorite color palette of soft gray, white and light blue), the rain shower and marble bath in the master bathroom, and the balcony, complete with a day-bed which offered the most incredible view of the beach.
I confess, the balcony is where we spent most of our mornings, soaking up the sun and indulging in our breakfast favorites. Once again, the french toast is a must-have, and if you happen to be a coffee-lover like I am, I think you will really enjoy the french press coffee made to order daily, opt for a side of coconut milk which complemented the flavor of the coffee perfectly.
What makes St Regis Bahia Beach completely unique is the fact that it is the first and only certified Gold Audubon Signature Sanctuary in the Caribbean, and the resort really embraces the island’s striking natural beauty with rich landscapes.
The pool area is where we ended up spending most of our days, enjoying the stunning views of the Atlantic ocean. Gorgeous and relaxing, the outdoor pool is surrounded by the lush vegetation and palm trees which create a beautiful contrast against the sparkling blue water.
I also wanted to highlight some of the signature St Regis rituals we got the experience at Bahia Beach. Take the Afternoon tea for example, what we really loved about it is the way it was re-imagined to fit in with the more relaxed, en vacances tone of the resort. Rather than opting for a traditional sit-down version, the resort offers a pool-side iced tea ritual, which you can enjoy while relaxing in your own private cabana. Refreshing and relaxing, we ended up enjoying the tea every afternoon, paired with fresh fruit it was absolutely delicious!
Couldn’t really write this post without mentioning the Evening Champagne ritual. Since it made such an impression on us in San Francisco, we were really excited to see the local interpretation of this time-honored tradition and it certainly did not disappoint! I got to saber my very own bottle of champagne! To finish this post, I wanted to say a few things about St Regis Bahia Beach in general. Unforgettable, is the word that comes to mind when I think of Bahia Beach… The perfectly pink sunrises, so vivid, it’s hard to believe they are real, the gorgeous nature everywhere you look, the incredible wildlife, the sound of the birds singing in the morning, the delicious cuisine, pool-side smores at sunset, really there are too many things to mention… But I’ve always believed that in life, experiences have the most value, they are ours forever and we get to cherish them and relive them over and over again. This particular stay was definitely one of the experiences I will always treasure.
