From the popular Bea of Bloomsbury the sweet treats cake shop and tearooms across London. Bea has gone and surprised us all, what started as her flipping burgers at pop ups, turned into opening a permanent place in the shopping fashion district Carnaby Street. As Virginia born Bea has opened up Stax Diner in Carnaby Street going back to her childhood memories of eating American Southern food from her road trips. Bea brings family recipes and good old American classics to Stax Diner.
Located in Kingly Court on the second floor, the place is full of maze with foods from all over the world. It’s windowless tables means you can stare outside to passer-by’s and down to the lower floor.
Paying a long overdue visit, my heart was set on chicken and waffles. It sounds like some whack ass combination but I’ve already tried the infamous Duck and Waffle nothing can possibly weird me out. Whilst waiting for my food I ordered the humongous well over a pint ice sweet tea. It’s a great combination of not having too much black tea, with a tinge of sweetness, the perfect solution sipping away on a hot summers day.
Food finally arrived, tackling a big fresh out the pan waffle taking up the whole of plate and three monstrous deep-fried popped batter buttermilk chicken breasts. Drizzle the maple syrup and it’s an incendiary pleasure. Chicken breast can be dry in texture but Satx Diner managed to get that butter softness.
This is my second trip to Stax Diner and if you have read my last year article you know that they make some killer thick ice cream milkshakes and ice cream floats.
