Are we any closer to the full reveal of the Stone Island x New Balance collaboration? Sure. Does that make the wait any easier? Not at all.
The rollout of the upcoming Stone Island sneaker collaboration with New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio has been a slow tease, painful almost, as the Italian sportswear specialists drip feed us information. So far, the most concrete information shared is related to the collaborative creative teams and the fact that this will be a long-term partnership.
While we’ve seen the brand take its time with product reveal when collabs are concerned, SI has dedicated itself to this glacial pace throughout the entirety of summer.
Though New Balance has collaborated with the compass-clad brand in the past, this time around its Tokyo Design Studio helms the project. Much in the same vein as Stone Island, NB TDS dedicates itself to research and development, serving as a hub for innovation.

In essence, these are two institutions of mad scientists in the world of apparel and sneakers, and fans can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with.
This latest drop of information is the closest we’ve got yet to a full reveal of the collaborative sneaker. First appearing as individualized, colorized elements of the shoe, we were able to discern that the final product will feature a range of blue hues – likely due to Stone Island’s famed dye treatments – with hints of red and ivory.
These elements were then shared as a physical collage, highlighting the fabrics and textures that will feature on the shoe and giving the best look yet at the coloring of each piece.
Hopefully, this spells the end of the wait as the full reveal is presumably on the horizon.
