Sunbathing Babe Emily Ratajkowski Is Having an ‘Existential Crisis’ — But Shares What’s Getting Her Through

This beach bum has some serious stuff on the brain! Model Emily Ratajkowski dished that she was having an “existential crisis” while hanging out in Miami Beach on October 16 — but by the looks of her awesome bikini bod, things are at least partly going OK. The 28-year-old was spotted taking in the sun and topping off her tan in a sexy black bikini while reading “The Rules Do Not Apply” by Ariel Levy.

In fact, the brunette beauty seemed to be so taken with the text, she even shouted out the introspective read while at the same time revealing her “existential crisis” at hand. “Me having an existential crisis on the beach about my false sense of control and feeling of constantly being ‘too much,'” she captioned an almost topless photo of herself with the book by her side on her Instagram Story. “Thanks @arielvlevy.”

Believe it or not, Em was so ~in her feelings~, she also posted a thoughtful follow-up quote. “Does the sun ask itself ‘Am I good? Is there enough of me?’ No, it burns and it shines. Does the sun ask itself, ‘What does the moon think of me? How does Mars feel about me today?’ No, it burns, it shines. Does the sun ask itself, ‘Am I ask big as other suns in other galaxies?’ No, it burns, it shines.”

The quote, which she wrote on top of a beautiful oceanside sunset, is by Andrea Dworkin, a well-known radical feminist who passed away back in 2005.

It definitely makes sense to see EmRata latch onto words from a great and legendary feminist, since she’s on her way to becoming one of those herself. In fact, she has been incredibly outspoken about the double standards set up for women in today’s society — and how that affects her tendencies to go “hyper femme,” as she was described by a friend a few years back.

“It kind of threw me because in many ways, probably like anyone would, I felt that her comment was an oversimplification of my identity,” she told Harper’s BAZAAR about the incident back in a personal essay in August. “In my day-to-day life, I was not aware of being femme or masc or anything but just me. Her observation surprised me and made me feel suddenly self-conscious.”

“Despite the countless experiences I’ve had in which I was made to feel extremely ashamed and, at times, even gross for playing with sexiness, it felt good to play with my feminine side then, and it still does now,” she wrote. “I like feeling sexy in the way that makes me, personally, feel sexy. Period.”
