Sunseeker 74 Sport Yacht Launches

Bridging the performance-focused Predators with the space- focused Manhattan and Yacht ranges, Sunseeker’s Sport Yacht models are typically a blend of power and liveability, making them suitable for a fast run or a leisurely cruise with guests or family.

This latest model has been developed from the Predator 74 hull, but the Sunseeker design team has added much more to give the 74 Sport Yacht its own character and appeal.

Currently the only model in the Sport Yacht range, the 74 includes an attractive mix of sporty performance, quality accommodation and a surprisingly large range of entertainment, dining and relaxation areas.

The sleek profile of the yacht, a credit to Sunseeker considering the addition of a flybridge, gives a positive first impression and builds an appetite to get on board. And she doesn’t disappoint. Firstly, it’s a thrill to get under way and feel this yacht travel, experiencing its high-speed performance – including getting up to its publicised top speed of 38 knots – and also enjoying its smooth ambience at more relaxing speeds. The yacht is responsive to the controls, while increasing or decreasing speed, and in all modes of performance, it offers appropriately economical fuel consumption.

Power is provided by MAN engines, with different options up to 3,800PS, and the engines drive twin fixed-pitch submerged propellers in semi-recessed tunnels. With this combination, a wide span of cruising speeds are available, again emphasising the flexible options that this yacht offers. The engine compartment, accessed via a hatch on the aft cockpit, provides a comfortable working environment considering the size of the craft. Hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, and fin stabilisers are among the key optional extras.

However, what makes this yacht so different from the Predator 74 is the extra living space on board, most notably with he addition of a flybridge, which features a twin-seat helm station to port. The flybridge – which Sunseeker sometimes calls the sport bridge – offers plenty of seating in two U-shaped lounge areas around teak tables, while the extended seating area aft doubles as a sunbathing pad. A convenient aft drawer fridge is fitted as standard, while optional extras include Bimini and wet bar upgrades.

The foredeck has a comfortable couch and double sunpad

The foredeck is another attractive entertaining area, offering a forward-facing C-shaped sofa with table and a large sunpad for two to three people. A pram hood canopy is an optional extra for this area. At the other end of the yacht is the third major outdoor area, featuring the cockpit and the hydraulic lifting swim platform, where other features include a stainless-steel swim ladder, hot and cold shower, and a barbecue grill as part of the ‘beach club’ package.

From the swim platform is a doorway to the compact twin-bunk crew cabin to port and the starboard garage for a Williams Sportjet 395 tender. Standard fittings include connections to fresh water and dockside AC shore power.

The large aft cockpit is both another major outdoor area and also the start of the interior, as it embodies indoor-outdoor living. Aft is an enormous sunpad, which lies on top of the garage door, while there are also portside stairs to the flybridge and useful storage lockers under the seating.

The cockpit is unusually large and there’s actually more seating around its three-sided couch than in the saloon’s C-shaped sofa. Both social areas are beautifully linked by one of the key features on the yacht – the drop-down saloon door, which electrically sinks into the gap between the saloon and cockpit sofas, and creates one connected, covered social area.

Inside, the impact of the large windows and the natural light that pours in is immediately obvious, as is the extra light coming in through the forward sunroof. The starboard side of the saloon is dominated by a large C-shaped sofa and dining area with foldable table, while to port is a long cabinet and a 55-inch TV. As usual, a choice of interior finishes and veneers are available. Forward is the main twin-seat helm station to starboard and a raised L-shaped sofa to port that allows guests excellent views.

A stairway leads to a lower deck that’s available in three- and four-cabin configurations, and benefits from a 2m ceiling height throughout. The three-cabin version offers an extended galley with lounge and breakfast bar seats plus three en-suite cabins comprising spacious master and VIP cabins, and a twin. The galley includes a four-ring ceramic hob, refrigerator and freezer, microwave convection oven and sink. The four-cabin version has a smaller galley. From here, it’s a step down to the full-beam aft master stateroom, which enjoys plenty of light from the two large cabin windows with opening portholes.

The suite offers a good amount of drawer and cupboard space, a walk-in wardrobe and a Portside dinette with two seats, ideal for coffee or a quiet breakfast.

Forward is the well-appointed VIP cabin, which also has two good-sized windows with opening portholes and good storage space including a walk-in hanging wardrobe. To starboard, the comfortable twin guest cabin with en-suite completes the accomodation on the three-cabin layout.

The 74 Sport Yacht has incredible power and speed for a large yacht, and the comfortable flybridge and brilliantly linked cockpit and saloon make this a truly comfortable and spacious luxury yacht that ticks many boxes.
