Sushi Show Angel
Don’t you love it when you find a real gem? That’s how I felt when I rediscovered Sushi Show in Angel Islington. It is one of those hole in the wall places, perched in Camden Passageways, Sushi Show has several seats. 10 seats inside and 8 outside, so either grab a takeaway or visit during quiet hours. Run by Kaz Tateishi he opened the restaurant in October 2014, going to Billingsgate market seeking for the freshest fish to use for sushi.
The sushi bar
I think Kaz accomplice it well, the sushi made fresh on premises packed into Japanese takeout boxes, doesn’t taste like the usual bog-standard places like Wasabi or Itsu. Each box is beautifully crafted with the freshest ingredients and juiciness of the salmon meat. Soft shell crab is fried until a light crisp with a special sauce to enhance the natural seafood flavour.
Sushi rice is seasoned subtly and rice is neither hard nor too soft. You can even order sushi made to order, check out their daily specials on the black board.
Affordable sushi
Sushi is very affordable Salmon and avocado costing £4.80 and soft shell crab roll for £5.80. Of course, there’s the option of ordering nigiri by the piece and donburi bowls and others from the menu.
I don’t why it took me so long to try Sushi Show, as I mentioned it was rediscovered on a recent trip in the area. I’ve always walked past seeing Japanese people enjoying the food, a great tell-tale sign of an authentic establishment. It’s a great low fuss spot, where you can either pick sushi boxes from the fridge or have made to order rolls.
