This mysterious dazzler from Swarovski is the first automatic watch in the company’s women’s watch collection and will be revealed properly at BaselWorld 2016 (March 17-24), the world’s biggest and most important watch and jewelry fair. Blending together night and day, Crystalline Hours contains approximately 4,000 tiny faceted crystals in its case, and comes available in a white-strap version with clear crystals, or a black-strap version with black crystals. The straps are leather with an embossed crocodile structure.
The watch was created in collaboration with top watch designer Eric Giroud, and one of the plans was to make sure that “not everything gets revealed at first glance”. We of course know Giroud from his collaborations with MB&F and so might you! His involvement is intriguing… The mystery of the watch comes in the form of its “transparent” case that allows you to view the movement and the crystals from the front and the back. We know from the specifications that the case is stainless steel (or rose-gold tone plated) so perhaps the crystals are mobile, set under the sapphire crystal dome but above another sapphire crystal dial. Well that is just speculation at this point but we are certainly looking forward to learning more at BaselWorld!
The goal for Swarovski is clearly (no pun intended) to prove that technology and precision can be interpreted in a feminine way. We shall see if Crystalline Hours is indeed the crystal beauty that fits on your wrist, plays on your mind, teases your eye and complements your ballroom gown with delicacy. Consider our expectations raised!
