She brought the ubiquitous scalloped bikini to the suitcases of some of the world’s most stylish women. We are talking, of course, about Marysia Reeves. Founder of her eponymous swimwear label, Marysia has made it her mission to give trendsetting ladies a fresh range of effortlessly modern one- and two-piece bathing suits. (Beyond her perfectly cut ocean styles, look out for the recently launched line of bright and breezy resort separates, too.)
We caught up with Marysia to get the low-down on what she’s got in her holiday luggage, plus what’s next for her inimitable brand.
Where was the last place you went on vacation?
I went to Amangiri in Utah with my husband a few weeks ago. It provided inspiration for the Resort 19 collection that I’ve just finished designing.
How to survive jet-lag – what are your top tips?
I keep very hydrated on the plane and try to rest and relax in-flight. I also love the supplements from Moon Juice – the beauty dust is great for looking fresh after a long day of travel.
If we could only have one swimwear style from your collections, which should we get and why?
I design all of my maillot suits to do double duty – they act as swimwear by day and tops that can be worn with jeans or a skirt for dinner. So… anything!
Packing light or packing everything?
I am a light packer and try to simplify my wardrobe to wear things interchangeably. For vacations, you should have a relaxed vibe, so I always suggest packing light. I wear swimwear as tops, daytime drawstring pants with heels for dinner and a wrap dress for an easy layering piece all day.
Books or kindle on the beach?
I love turning the page of a real book (or magazine) over the digital version any day!
What are you listening to on Spotify right now?
For daytime tunes, I have been revisiting the music of Bob Marley since spending a few weeks in the Bahamas this past winter and for nighttime I love the playlists from Hotel Costes in Paris.
Where are you planning to head for your next trip?
We head to London in late May and can’t wait to explore the city.
Marysia is 9 years old. What’s next for the brand?
We are exploring the world of accessories and will launch a beach hat collaboration with Lola Hats this summer. I love the idea of creating a whole vacation lifestyle brand.
