The Chanel J12 needs no introduction. It has been the house’s most legendary ceramic watch since it was first introduced in 2000. To commemorate it’s 20^th anniversary, the iconic timepiece undergoes another iteration, and this time, as the J12 X-Ray – a rendition of the original in clear sapphire.

Appropriately named X-Ray, the new J12 is reveals 100% transparency – including its case, link-cuff bracelet and movement – allowing the watchmaking mastery to be on full view and nothing to be imagined.

The J12 X-Ray also comes with a new movement that has been designed and assembled by the Chanel Manufacture of Switzerland, the Calibre 3.1, which is also designed to be see-through. The dial is cast in sapphire and is set with baguette-cut diamond indicators perfectly balanced to give the illusion of 12 stones in suspension, with matching baguette-cut diamond pave bezel weighing over 5 carats in total, and a cabochon diamond topping the crown.

The first of its kind, the J12 X-Ray is the only watch created entirely transparent, minimalistic and bares it all. Limited to only 12 pieces, the collector’s item initiates a new era in the history of colour. The Chanel J12 X-Ray will be available for viewing at Baselworld 2020.

It’s been three years since Panerai first introduced the Lab-ID Luminor 1950 Carbotech 3 Days PAM 700. The now classic watch was born as an experiment, using high tech carbon fibre composite as its core material. Now that we're in 2020, the Lab-ID has been reinvented in the form of Luminor Marina Carbotech PAM 1661.

The newest addition to the family of Panerai features a 44mm black carbon case material, a SandwichTM dial, blue Super-LumiNovaTM with green luminescence hour markings (matching the fabric stitching on the strap), small seconds at 9 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock. The sports watch runs on automatic mechanical movement, with a P.9010 Calibre, anti-shock device, two spring barrels and a 300m water resistance depth rate. Yet the most impressive characteristic of the Luminor Marina is probably its ultralight weight of only 96 grams. The featherlight weight for such a sizeable watch allows for maximum movement, flexibility and comfort.

The carbon fibre material is developed in house at Panerai and is composed of a carbon-fibre reinforced polymer compressed at high pressure to create a resilient material that is lighter than titanium, stronger than steel and also scratch resistant.
