Taj – Stunning Shakespearn St James Courtyard Royal Afternoon Tea

ST. JAMES’ COURT IMG_7151

With it’s famous stunning Shakespearean courtyard and Victorian masterpieces you can easily be fooled to being in a completely different country other than London. The distinctive luxury Taj hotel at St James Court yard between Buckingham Palace and the House of Parliament makes an obvious choice to enjoy some afternoon tea.

Greeted by a golden flag we entered the charming courtyard joining 7 restaurants near the hotel. Meeting the huge cherub fountain right in the middle, it leaves a sense of tranquility, surrounded by the vibrant colours of the plants.

For that brief moment, I took the time to soak in the beautiful surroundings than it was off to St James Courtyard restaurant to enjoy afternoon tea.

As expected walking into the bistro, the interior is beaming with elegance and sophistication, grey walls with accents of purple popping in the form of art and flowers.

St James Court Hotel takes tea seriously, even offering the experience to have 24-karat gold champagne tea if your feeling fancy.

Zomato sent me over a voucher for Royal afternoon tea for two, but I was only served a portion for one person. A mistake on Taj Hotel fault as I called up for two, but luckily it was enough to fill the two of us up.

The Royal Afternoon Tea consists finger sandwiches which you can either have one filling or a mix. This was the favourite out of my afternoon tea experience, tasty fillings. Queen’s recipe drop scones of three different type of scones with clotted cream and jam.

For other sweet treats, a selection of mini cakes. Jaffa cakes, Victorian sponges, and the bubbly elderflower and strawberry jelly. They were a few hit and misses in the cakes, and if your still not sick of the sweetness overload. There’s a little bar with macaroons and cakes that can be taken for no extra cost.
