Palm Beach is among Florida’s wealthiest communities, home to famous athletes, celebrities, and authors—but despite the area’s affluence, one in five children in Palm Beach County do not know where their next meal will come from. On Thursday, April 20, the national nonprofit No Kid Hungry will partner with over 40 of Palm Beach’s top chefs and bartenders to present Taste of the Nation, a tasting event that will raise funds to help end childhood hunger in America and in Florida.
Chaired by four local chefs—Lindsay Autry of The Regional Kitchen & Public House; Zach Bell of the Addison Reserve Country Club; Clay Conley of Buccan, Imoto, and Grato; and Tim Lipman of Coolinary Café—Palm Beach’s Taste of the Nation event brings the talents of the city’s finest chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists to the Cohen Pavilion of The Kravis Center for an evening of mingling, auctions, and charity. Five local breweries will keep the beer flowing, and a special themed cocktail will be served by the winner of the The Shake Up contest, a mixology throwdown between participating restaurants during the month leading up to the event.
According to Autry, the highlight of the evening will be the live auction, where attendees can bid on exciting experience and excursion packages including a chef-catered barbeque and more. The biggest lot is a wine cellar, where bidders will line up to see if the key they purchased can open the cellar’s lock – if it unlocks, it’s yours.
Funds raised by Taste of the Nation Palm Beach will go towards the public school system to better the free breakfast program and help summer programs to provide children with meals when school isn’t in session. It will also benefit charities and organizations including Florida Impact, Feeding South Florida, and FLIPANY.
Around 800 people attended Palm Beach’s Taste of the Nation last year, and organizers expect tickets to sell out quickly. General admission is $125 per person, and VIP admission is $200 per person. VIPs will have early admission to the event and gain access to a large VIP area, where the co-chair chefs’ stations are located and drinks are chosen by The Breakers’ master sommelier Virginia Philip. Tickets are also available for the after party at Autry’s restaurant, The Regional Kitchen & Public House, where guests can mingle with chefs and enjoy even more food and drinks, starting at 9 p.m.
