The perfect way to celebrate the weekend.
Brunching in Hong Kong is a weekend tradition that even under new normal circumstances, we do not wish to forget. With that in mind, we’ve pulled together our top five brunch spots to kick start your weekend. From the much loved and crowd-pleasing classics to the Champagne-filled events, here is our list of the city’s best brunches to ensure your cravings are fulfilled.
The champagne brunch at Mandarin Oriental‘s Clipper Lounge on Sundays is a long-time favourite of many locals and hotel guests here in Hong Kong — and for good reason. The generous semi-buffet brunch includes a marathon of food that ranges from fresh oysters, eggs Benedict, and main dishes such as roast prime rib of beef and Hainan Chicken served to the table. This is then followed by the feast awaiting at the buffet stations which offer more seafood including lobster and abalone, sushi and sashimi, dim sum, cheese, desserts and cake, and a whole host of hors d’oeuvres including salads and cold cuts. If this classic, and extremely comprehensive, brunch doesn’t hit the mark, I don’t know what will.

The Weekend Salon Brunch is back at Duddell’s and we couldn’t be happier to dive right back into a limitless dim sum feast. Now available as either afternoon or late afternoon session, the brunch continues to offer some of the best Cantonese dim sum classics such as prawn dumplings, barbecued pork buns, spring rolls and more. The feast continues with rice and noodle options, along with mains including Peking duck, sautéed beef with sand ginger & leek, and kung po prawn, as well as a range of traditional Hong Kong desserts to complete the meal. I don’t know about you, but I”m going back for more dim sum.

Whenever we have a strong hankering for Japanese food, Fumi is the answer. The indulgent Remix brunch offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, tempura and grill, along with made to order okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancake) and takoyaki (battered octopus balls). The main course offering also includes favourites such as Miso Cod, A4 Miyazaki beef udon, and chopped toro and leek rice bowls, among other options. Plus they offer a complimentary bonus seafood dish and dessert to seal the deal.

Not exactly the most glam brunch, but it certainly is one of the most satisfying. The Pizza Project, now with two locations in Central and Wan Chai, offer an accessible brunch filled with antipasti, salad, pizza and dessert options. Crunchy on the outside and moist inside, The Pizza Project have paid special attention to their dough to ensure it’s not the chewier Neapolitan kind. One of our favourite pies here is the hot and fresh ‘Nduja pizza made with a spicy Spanish salami, smoked scamorza cheese, tomato sauce and creamy fior di latte.

I don’t know about you, but with the continuous Champagne pours that go hand in hand with a weekend brunch in Hong Kong, I just don’t want it to end. Enter the night brunch, an easy reason to keep the festivities going. At The Ritz Carlton’s Ozone bar, the Luminous Jungle Night Brunch presents a jungle-themed free-flow food menu with Asian influences featuring a range of savoury and sweet dishes. Highlights include a refreshing salmon ceviche; Japanese-Brazilian style maki rolls; grilled chicken skewers; roasted pineapple with vanilla, rum and coconut ice cream dessert, and much more. And of course, the drinks won’t disappoint either with fruit-secco, Hennessy cocktails, and free-flow Dom Pérignon Vintage 2008 on offer.
