Homegrown talents Andy Chong and Buzz Tang, founders of the local tailoring outfit The Anthology, were unable to sit idly by whilst they, along with the rest of the world, witnessed the destruction and heartache caused by the ongoing coronavirus situation.
In fulfilling their duty to mankind, Chong and Tang have decided to push forward a new product line that they have been working on to be sold now instead of its original release date slated for June, with all proceeds from the sale going to charity.
The new garments in question are a lovely trio of 1950’s inspired knit cotton T-shirts, offered in shades of cream, mustard and navy (HK$680). The T-shirts take heavy cues from vintage garms of yesteryear, new vintage if you will, and feature ribbed sleeves and a substantial elasticated waistband to keep the silhouette neat and tidy. The new knitwear is truncated in the body and need not be tucked in, and will pair especially well with the high waisted trousers The Anthology have become so synonymous with. The organic threads are sourced from Xinjiang, known to many as a premier producer of high grade cotton, and the porous texture of the knit ensures fantastic breathability in the muggy climates soon to hit Hong Kong. Finally, to give the T-shirt its worn-in feel, the team at The Anthology have given each of the pieces a special wash (which incidentally will also limit future shrinkage). As with everything else The Anthology produces, the quality and finishing of the garment is top notch.
These shirts are perfect for days when one wishes to dress down a sports coat, yet maintain a touch of nonchalance by forgoing a conventional collared shirt. Whilst opting for an ordinary T-shirt is certainly an option, it rarely cuts the mustard in terms of matching the formality of a fully canvassed jacket. The knit T-shirt would look equally at home under a shirt jacket with a pair of jeans. To add further visual interest to the ensemble, tuck a rolled up bandanna or neckerchief under the ribbed collar. Act fast though, as this run of knit T-shirts have been produced in a limited run of 300.
