Editor’s Notes: As you can tell from previous effusive headlines, we here at Highsnobiety quite enjoy a good Reebok Zig silhouette, especially the 3D Storm. The 3D Storm now has a new challenger by way of a tall winterized Zig silhouette that’s as tough as it is teched-out.
GORE-TEX liners are de rigeur for winter sneakers these days; it takes more than mere waterproofing to make an interesting shoe. A little liner doesn’t hurt, though it is funny to see those big “GORE-TEX” logos on the sides of every functional silhouette.
No, the GORE-TEX factor is definitely a boon to the Zig Kinetica II Edge, but it’s got plenty more to offer. For instance, it swaps boring (and slippery) laces for velcro straps, easy to adjust with gloved hands. The collar can also be tightened the same way.
Below, a grippy Vibram Ecostep is like a built-in version of the Vibram shoe cage, but not as cumbersome.
The black, cream, and dark brown colorways aren’t the wildest shades imaginable but they reiterate the Zig Kinetica II Edge’s position as the ideal winter beater. Better to be a little boring than bland or unnecessarily bold.
Plus, the simple makeups only emphasize the sneaker’s clever design, all clean lines and easy access.
