Rishabh Dev,We all know that life is never easy, but for some, it is way more troublesome because destiny chooses you to test and make you stronger. Today, when I like looking back at the awful childhood and troubled teenage, I feel stronger, determined, and way more confident, which I wouldn’t have been otherwise.
I was 17 when I was thrown out of the house just because I had a dream and vision for myself and in their words, I was ‘Different’. I was quite rebellious and could not be in any kind of cage which was created by my family or society at large.
If I talk about school days, even those days were damn tough, because nobody was willing to be my friend, sit with me or build a bond, as if I was a piece of shit and I was always insulted and humiliated. But I took it all with positivity and I used to make myself understand “Darling you are one man army”.
Getting accepted in society was never the first concern; my first concert was to achieve something which I had been dreaming for long, in terms of lifestyle, money, job satisfaction, and more.
Because of the kind of ambience I was born in, people were not aware of what LGBTQ is and how does it feel when you are gay?
So I had that vision, where one day I will run away from this society and a bunch of people I am surrounded by.
Rishabh Dev,If I talk about the negative aspects of being gay in India, there are many people who want to dim your light, by calling hijra, chakka, meetha and the list goes on. People talk shit about your choices of clothes, for your appearance, the way you talk, the way you sit, the way you walk and probably even the way you breathe.
Rishabh Dev,I will still say my major concern was not to get accepted in the society, but to educate myself so that I can live a better life.
With time I have realized that the weapon which we all need life to live a successful life is nothing but education. It not only broadens the horizons of avenues but also makes you a better human being.
One thing I must tell all the LGBTQ people, that if others face 20 percent of hurdles in life, we get 200 percent for the same to achieve success, just because you are different in their eyes. And they’re gonna be many monsters waiting for you just to make sure you couldn’t get success. So start believing in yourself and the sky is the limit!
