The Goods from – Red Market Old Street (Fried Oeros)

A few weeks back I was heading to callooh callay bar to celebrate cinco de mayo. Along the way my friend and I spotted Red Market, music blasting from the speakers, people swarming over the food stalls. It looked lively and fun; curious we stepped inside for a food hunt. Two stalls caught my eye, crabbie shack and when mac met cheese.

When Mac met cheese was selling deep fried oeros, something you rarely see in London. One of those naughty treats you think you can only get over in America. These babies was so so bad, yet so good, coated in a fluffy pancake batter dusted with icing had a soft gooey texture inside. The guy at the store joked deep-frying oeros burns off the calories.

My eyes glinted as I saw the words “soft shell crab” those things are my firm favourite to order at Japanese restaurants. It was quite late in the evening some of the ingredients were finished. There was only one option left on the menu, and I drive in for the “Jumbo Soft shell crab burger” One whole crab was deep fried in tempura batter before my eyes. The soft shell crab was stuffed inside a soft toasted bun and was served with a generous helping of salad.
