The success story of Delhi-based Tattoographer Karan defines passion in the most unique way with a pinch of pain. Karan, a tattoo artist and piercer by profession is the world’s first individual with one full bodysuit tattoo inked, he also got his sclera inked black and has hundreds of piercing all through his body. Ask him the reason, the 32-year-old artist says, “My body is my canvas and I love to paint it with vision and for me, it’s a matter of passion, where there is no place for pain.” Karan believes in the end result and that’s the reason he chooses not to talk about his vision, rather prefers to show the final outcome and let the world understand and talk about it. Karan narrates his journey as an artist and how passionate he is about pampering his body like a blank canvas.
EARLY DAYS
I was 13 when I started getting tattooed and I was 16 when I started making tattoos as a passion. In the initial days, I used to make tattoo for my friends, acquaintances and later the passion took shape in the form of the profession and I opened my first studio in Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi.
SELF-TAUGHT ARTIST
When I started; tattooing was not a career option. I am a keen observer of everything around me and this made me a self-taught tattoo artist who also knows the art of piercing. Different parts of my body have been pierced 250 times, out of which 150 times I have pierced myself because perfection is my limit, and to achieve that I can do anything. I guess it’s my never-say-die attitude that has made me achieve another milestone in my life, where a documentary is being made about my life and transformation under the creative mentorship of filmmaker and director Tushar Tyagi.
MY FIRST
My first tattoo was a ‘Cross’ at the age of 13, which was done by a street artist. And my first piercing was done at the age of 24 and that is when I fell in love with the art of piercing and decided to have more of it on my blank canvas (body). With all of it, my body often looks full to others. But when I see them without any modification, I find them even emptier and I guess that’s my perspective that makes me different from others.
THE DETAILS
In 2017, I got my eyeballs tattooed black, which is referred to as scleral tattoo, it’s a relatively new extreme body modification where needles inject ink into the whites of a person’s eyes to permanently dye it a different colour. It was done by an Australian tattoo artist, who actually invented eyeball tattooing at a tattoo studio in New York, 
US. And my most recent full bodysuit tattoo that has grabbed attention on social media is done by Chandigarh-based tattoo artist Rishabh Narang, who has worked along with me to make this dream come true, where I was tattooed for 3 days consecutively every month for 6 long years.
LESSON OF LIFE
We all have just one life to live our dreams, so there should be no scope for compromise. I suggest all young minds to live their dreams to the fullest and leave no stone unturned to achieve the unachievable. I have done that in my life and have faced many hurdles and criticism, but my determination was bigger than all of that, and hence, I made it to present and rest as they say is history.
SOCIAL MEDIA
It has its own pros and cons and I as a person prefer to look at the pros and don’t let the cons affect my motive for life. There are people full of positivity and appreciation as well. My Instagram DM is full of such positivity and they often make me smile as well. (winks) When I started posting my pictures on social media, I faced a lot of negativity, but somewhere I was prepared for it and I opted to neglect it and walked ahead and I am still walking, because sky is the limit.
FUTURE FILE
I believe in result and process is something that I choose to keep personal. It won’t make sense if I reveal my plans. All I have to say is just wait. It is going to be worth a watch.
