Overheard on the internet was Kirin Yatai Japanese restaurant pop up in conjunction with Yatai and Yashin Sushi, they present a Kushiage style restaurant for a short period of time. Located in the up and coming trendy brick lane an online booking for this experience is a must. The website briefly said that skewers and beer would cost around £5.
As we arrived we were seated where the staffs was all smiles preparing the diners their food. We was giving a beer each, I usually detest beer but happily drank the whole bottle of Kirin. We were presented a menu a selection of 7 kushiage style skewers was on offer. The pricing was 3 for £5, 6 for £10 plus adame beans, or £15 for all skewers plus ice cream. I opted for 6; my chosen selection was the pork, chicken, egg, asparagus, fish cake, and prawn. My friend and I happily chatted away and the food came within 15 mins. I felt spoiled with all the different meats and textures, the deep fried skewers were mouth watering and DELICIOUS.
After our meal I had a look at the art painted on the wall, inspirations from Japanese pop culture the cute looking characters stood out.
Afterwards, I don’t how I did it but my meal followed a 2 mile walk from spitalfieds to Exmouth market, we went to the Sweet Desserts Boulangerie and Patisserrie place for a smoothie. We both had the urge for soya pudding and ended up in Chinatown Golden gate dessert lounge. I almost died from the sourness of the ice lemon tea there. I somehow brought up mooli’s to my friend she was said she defiantly had room for the roti wrap. Haha and I really wanted to try the special limited edition Keema wrap. The keema wrap was tasty, the lamb, the sweetness of the mangos was a much milder experience in spice compared to goat mooli.
