Sachet Tandon | parampara thakur

Words: Dhaval Roy

Sachet-Parampara on life before and after the stupendous success of Bekhayali in Kabir Singh.

Sachet Tandon | parampara thakurSachet Tandon | parampara thakur. Composers Sachet Parampara , Sachet Tandon and Parampara thakur are over the moon not just because the chart-smasher Bekhayali from Kabir Singh is their biggest song yet but also for the adulation they are still receiving. The success is sweeter because they least expected it! “We thought it was a good song being used in a big film. But we were stunned after seeing the madness,” Parampara gushes. “We get moist-eyed thinking about all the love Bekhayali, Mere Sohneya and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas have brought us,” Sachet chips in. TMM

That’s because admittedly they are experiencing this kind of love for the first time, though they entered showbiz as The Voice India contestants in 2015 and partnered up in 2016. “Seven-eight months before Kabir Singh were extremely tough. We were working so hard but it wasn’t translating into much. We could see people losing their belief in us because unless you do deliver a hit, people don’t think you’re good enough,” Sachet observes. But now, they can see a shift in their colleagues’ perception of them. “Those who were shying away from collaborating with us, are coming around,” Parampara smiles.

Predictably, the two are being approached to ‘compose something like Bekhayali’ by some filmmakers. “We tell them, ‘You need to make a Kabir Singh to have a Bekhayali’,” Parampara laughs, adding, “But we assure them we’ll do our best and tailor-make songs for their story.” Sachet-Parampara have followed up the manic success with hits Dilbara from Kartik Aaryan-starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh and the war song Rarara for Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji – The Unsung Hero.

The composer-singers attribute their multi-genre repertoire, including the rural melody Subah Ki Train (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha), dance number Hard Hard (Batti Gul Meter Chalu), angsty Bekhayali and Dilbara, etc. to their love for classical music. Sachet says, “Scoring for films is challenging as it makes us enter a new world every time.” When they hit a roadblock, they drive off to the outskirts of Mumbai, tuning into different types of music. “That and a cup of ice cream always helps,” they laugh. The pair has a number of projects lined up, which includes a collaboration with Tiger Shroff. “We have no expectations from 2020 except to allow us to make people happier with our songs,” they sign off.
