The Miniature Bags We Are Currently Coveting

Whether you like it or not, the mini bag trend is here to stay. Season after season, designers have introduced new colourways and silhouettes that leave us wanting more. While we know that these bags are not made for practicality,  there is no denying their dainty charm. So in no particular order, here are some of our favorite silhouettes that we are currently coveting and that will pair well with any outfit choice.

Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton has recently unveiled two new wrist bags for SS20. The miniature bags dubbed the ‘Mini Monogrammed Bumbag’ and ‘Palmsprings Wrist Bag’ boasts Louis Vuitton’s iconic signature monogram print. Black leather straps are complemented with gold-tone detailing accent hardware. Completing the bag is a centred “Louis Vuitton Paris” logo, to fortify the branding (in case you’ve missed it somehow).

The bracelet bags will be available for purchase once released in January of 2020, and is marked at approximately HK$5,900.

Jacquemus

When it comes to micro bags, Simone Porte Jacquemus is the name to know. Jacquemus’ ‘Le Chiquiti’ bag is crafted in rubberised leather with the iconic “J” branding in the corner. The uniqueness of the bag lies in its detachable leather strap which can be knotted it around your arm or wrist — much like a bracelet. The mini bags retail for approximately HK$2,020 and are available now through Jacquemus’ online shop.

Bottega Veneta

With Daniel Lee as the Creative Director of Bottega Veneta, he has amassed a strong following which includes the likes of Rihanna and Rosie Huntington-Whitely. His work also spawned the creation of the Instagram account, @NewBottega. So rounding out our top three, is Bottega Veneta’s ‘The Pouch 20’. The bag features a magnetic frame engulfed in handwoven leather while a slim leather shoulder strap allows the bag to be carried cross-body. ‘The Pouch 20’ arrives in various colourways and the price ranges from HK$9,700 to HK$12,850.

Hermès

You’ll have a harder time finding the next bag, but once you get, you won’t regret it. The Hermès Kelly is one of the world’s most coveted bag and if you didn’t know, the bag was originally dubbed the “Sac à Dépêches” but was later renamed after actress Grace Kelly in 1977. If you’re searching for this bag, you will have to call your local Hermès shop to try to arrrange one.

Fendi

With the holiday season just around the corner, Fendi‘s ‘Baguette Mini’ from Nicki Minaj’s ‘Fendi Prints On’ collection is the perfect festive option. The bag sees a unique mirror-effect arriving in silver leather detailing while it’s equipped with detachable shoulder straps which allows it to be worn on the shoulder or cross-body. Completing the bag is Fendi’s iconic ‘FF’ logo adorned in silver sequins. Whether you wear it for a festive party or just for a night out, the bag will set you back HK$20,200.

To reiterate, we know these bags are not practical but they are pretty and cute. There’s no right or wrong way to carry a mini bag, it’s all about owning the look, experimenting, and trying out different ways to rock them. One would even say that it’s therapeutic and see it as a way of “Marie Kondo-ing” your daily life.
