The two-Michelin-starred The Modern restaurant, located within the Museum of Modern Art, features three wonderful dining experiences that offer a respite after a morning or afternoon spent looking at some of the world’s best contemporary art. There is The Bar Room, featuring chef Thomas Allan’s seasonal dishes. Allan has worked at Per Se, Eleven Madison Park and Le Meurice Hotel in Paris, and he infuses his unique style into his French-style cooking. His contemporary menu features more laid-back, yet creatively plated dishes, such as spicy steak tartare, tarte flambée with onions and bacon or shaved brussels sprouts. His approachable bar menu also includes Buckets & Bubbles (fried chicken and sparkling wine). If you’re in for something a bit fancier, The Modern has a three-course prix fixe tasting menu for lunch or a six-course tasting menu for dinner. Chef Allan focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients in every dish. The restaurant also offers The Kitchen Table experience, which offers guests a front-row seat to the open-plan kitchen. Watch the talented cook your dinner — the result is an incredibly engaging and entertaining experience.
