Chanel’s latest fragrance collection, Les Eaux De Chanel, is teeming with the history of its founder, the French designer and business woman Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel. The fragrances, which come in three, are genderless and appeal to those yearning for freshness and a sense of escape, travel and self-discovery.
Designed like an invitation to travel, the new bottle for the Les Eaux De Chanel comes in the shape of the flasks that alcohol people used to carry in their waistcoat, keeping the joie de vivre safe while on an outing, adventure or of course, on the way to a party.
The first bottle, Paris-Deauville, sings notes of crinkled leaves and bitter green and is inspired by the seaside resort of Deauville on the Normandy coast, which caught the attention of the young milliner Gabrielle in the spring of 1912. As the destination of choice for Parisians over the weekend, this was in fact an ideal location where she chose to launch her first creations which broke with the stylistic codes of the time.
Paris-Biarritz is a bottle inspired by another seaside holiday destination, Biarritz, where Gabrielle opened her second clothing shop in 1915; the fragrance speaks of open air and the power of the ocean with all its aquatic sensations. Olivier Polge decided to energise the top notes with a burst of grapefruit and mandarin, which are then accompanied by an aqueous note, the citrus, which prepares the way for a lily-of-the-valley accord. In the groundswell of the fragrance, vetiver blends with white musk notes to heighten the bracing sensations.
Paris-Venise, inspired by Venice, the city that fell on the borders of European and Eastern culture. In many ways, Venice re-ignited Gabrielle’s will to live again as in 1919, she was inconsolable after losing her lover and muse, polo player Boy Capel in a tragic car accident: also a businessman, he had helped with the opening of her first shop in Deauville. The unique city nourished her sense of wonder and discovery, with its Venetian artists and unforgettable parties thrown by cosmopolitan aristocrats.
The launch of this fragrance in Deauville was attended by many international celebrities, including Korean star Jennie Kim from Black Pink. Also in attendance were two Thai influencers, singer Kaew-Jarinya and actress Nychaa-Nuttanicha; both have a lovely and vibrant nature which resonates well with the collection.
