The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort

The Ocean Club is a gorgeous hideaway for those seeking an authentic and luxurious Caribbean adventure. The hotel has attracted the glamorous jet set since it first opened in 1962, including many celebrities over the years thanks to its tucked-away, very private location on Paradise Island along a five-mile stretch of beach. The grounds sprawl over 35 acres and feature Versailles-inspired lawns, expansive tiered gardens and opulent stone columns. Low-rise buildings and towering palm trees on the property truly encapsulate that laid-back island feel. There’s a contemporary Bahamian flair to the decor in the HartfordWing; the CrescentWing has traditional Caribbean elegance. The resort is perfect for both families and couples alike; there are three pools (including an adults-only pool), a tranquil spa, fitness center, golf course, tennis court and Carlo Milano boutique.

Stay

Beachfront Four-bedroom Villa Residence Size 4,801 sq ft Nightly rate from $15,000 The most lavish villa at The Ocean Club, the Beachfront Four-bedroom Villa Residence underwent a renovation in January 2020. It is sowell-equipped that it is possible you might never have to leave. There is a private infinity pool, full kitchen, expansive indoor and outdoor lounge and living areas, two dining areas and a private garden. There are panoramic, uninterrupted views over the beach, and plenty of hedges and palms to shield your villa from prying eyes. Every room encourages indoor-outdoor living with sliding wooden doors that open up to private terraces. You also have private beach access directly from your villa, so you never need to see another guest during your stay. Allow your 24-hour personal attendant to book both on- and off-property activities. Also included is a personal chef, who cooks daily breakfast, and a personal housekeeper. Other amenities include morning yoga and SUV transfers.

Dine

DUNE by Jean-Georges Helmed by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who has multiple Michelin-starred restaurants around the globe, DUNE by Jean-Georges pairs Bahamian cuisine with his signature French-Asian flair. Both the cuisine and the decor stay true to island living, but are infused with a modern twist. The restaurant showcases perfect ocean views through floor-to-ceiling windows from its perch on a white-sand bluff, but inside, there’s a distinct ambience you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else on the island. Enjoy dishes like Bahamian conch salad, local sea bass with crusted nuts and seeds, or fresh, local lobster. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and also has magnificent cocktails to enjoy at sunset.

Explore

Families will be delighted at all the amenities for children at The Ocean Club. The Kids for All Seasons program highlights local culture, activities and nature by offering outdoor sports, art projects and the chance to explore marine habitats, plus age-appropriate island excursions are available for the entire family. There’s also a kids’ clubhouse, a family pool and non-motorized water sports on the beachfront for everyone. For couples, there isn’t a more romantic place to be. There are many places to hide away in the resort and relax with a glass of champagne while lazing under palm fronds, or you can take to the quiet, adults-only Versailles Pool. If you seek something truly private and extremely relaxing, head to one of the eight private Spa Villas; each has its own terrace, hydrotherapy bath and cascading waterfall shower. There’s also a TomWeiskopf-designed, 18-hole golf course overlooking the Nassau Harbour and Atlantic Ocean. It’s challenging, but beautiful.
