In a relatively chill week that accompanied the relatively chill weather, our first event was at Foxglove, where we witnessed the sale of a smorgasbord of gloss and matt colours from the cosmetic line of Natasha Moor. Formerly a make-up and hair stylist who, among other things, worked on Prestige fashion shoots, Moor is now an industry unto herself, transforming ladies with her power contouring and colours, and making brides look fabulous. Ever the enterprising gal, she launched her own beautifully presented line of lipsticks in berry colours last week, which sold in phenomenal quantities, with Indian aunties buying in bulk. We found refuge at the bar where, during a brief moment with Moor, she promised to host a larger-scale event next year.
Last Thursday, Bulgari hosted an epic soirée in Beijing attended by stunning ambassador Lily Aldridge, who flew in for the occasion, along with Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin and the brand’s High-Jewellery Creative Director Lucia Silvestri. It was held at the Bulgari Beijing Hotel, where guests had the opportunity to view a rainbow of gemstones from the Festa Di Bulgari collection. Aldridge was joined at the glamorous gala by Chinese stars Shu Qi and Kris Wu and, from Hong Kong, Ely Lam and her oh-so-stunning mother, Ling Hsieh.
Judging from the screams for K-pop sensation Sehun, who was the star attraction, the opening of the new Moncler store in Harbour City was the week’s most popular event back in Hong Kong. Truth be told, we were more excited to spot fashionista, KOL, Instagram fiend, french-fry fanatic and long-time friend Tina Leung, who’s been gallivanting around the globe since – forever. We’d have loved to chat but the mass of randoms who’d also snuck into the large shop prevented us from even making eye-contact, let alone gossiping. We did briefly chat with Arne Eggers as we hastily made our exit and also saw Feiping Chang posing pretty in pink. The event was too hot – we had to flee the scene.
Usually weekends are reserved for recovery, but as there’s no rest for the wicked, on Saturday afternoon we had a “Lala Curio Brunch” at The Envoy tea house in the The Pottinger Hong Kong, which was accompanied by endless GH Mumm champagne and heady cocktails. Sitting across from Nadia Harilela and next to Antonia da Cruz, we gossiped about just about everything, including Nadia’s upcoming by-invitation-only event co-hosted by popular man-about-town Justin Ng and called, wait for it, Curry Chela (where Coachella meets, um, curry? – or something along those lines). As for the brunch itself, the delish spread (the truffle fettuccini stole our hearts) was glorious, calorific fun; contact The Envoy for more info.
And that’s all for now. Coming up this week are events for Mr and Mrs Italy, Van Cleef & Arpels, Calzedonia, plus a weekend bash at W to round it all off. Prestige is also co-hosting cocktails with Bottega Veneta at the end of the month and with Versace in early December, so watch this space.
