Fans of the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” are sure to be delighted to know that the popular model will make a comeback for the holiday season. This pair of sneakers is one of the most popular silhouettes of the Jordan brand. The first model was released in 2001, making this reissue a nod to its 20 years history.
The highly-anticipated “Cool Grey” sneakers features a tonal grey nubuck on the upper while a glossy patented leather that is contoured forms the mudguard. Following this, a sculptured white foam informs its midsole and the shoes is completed with a translucent icy blue rubber outsole.
Aside from the aesthetic appeal, the icy blue hue serves another purpose: to make the “Cool Grey” less prone to the process of yellowing as the product ages with time. The uncoloured version used in earlier Air Jordan 11s were susceptible to this unwanted process.
Additional design details include the Air-Sole unit for lightweight cushioning and carbon fibre components for added stability.
An interesting fact about the “Cool Grey” is that it was never tied to a significant moment in Michael Jordan’s career besides him wearing a pair during the last stint of his career. However, the colourway proved to be highly popular among Jordan aficionados that it was used across other models starting with the Air Jordan 9 in 2002.
Despite it being featured on many silhouettes, none of it reached the level of acclaim as the Air Jordan 11.
